The EA 1087 EHIC project focuses on four areas. The first area is dedicated to studying post-conflict management (post-conflict landscapes and heritage, links between record and fiction, the role of minority literature in post-conflict management). As part of an institutional partnership with other teams from the Human and Social Sciences Research Institute in Limoges, the EHIC plays a key role in the interdisciplinary “Conflict and Post-Conflict” programme. The second area of focus, referred to as “Heterotopia”, involves the spatiality research field, which has been one of the EHIC‘s paramount concerns since the unit was established. Here, all forms of the literary locus otherness are envisaged from the real to the imaginary, from the symbolic to the rhetoric. The issues of writing of these places are examined through three complementary themes: places and itineraries, the private and the intimate, creations of otherness. The third area is organized around another subject that perpetuates the team’s tradition : forms and dynamics and multimedia accounts. Importance is given, firstly, to the formal issues of the transmedial dissemination of mass consumption fictions and genres referred to as popular, where their narrative “media-genie” is adjusted to “mediativity” that is both restrictive and support-productive and, secondly, to the eminent value of societal and historic application of these corpora, which admittedly confirm mythical transhistorical per anence but also reveal profound changes that affect individual and collective identities on an anthropological level. Finally, a fourth area provides the opportunity to develop the study of “itineraries” from a civilizationist perspective and is divided into three topics: migrations, itineraries and representations; public policies and migrations of knowledge; culture and diversity. Both EHIC sites have also established a Research Federation: “Federation for the Study of Contemporary Civilizations” (in partnership with the civilizationists from the Universities of Poitiers, La Rochelle and Tours).
