The XLIM research Institute hosts the Sumcastec h2020 project kick-off meeting
After having won the European project H2020 SUMCASTEC’s coordination, the University of Limoges is about to officially launch this 4 million euros research program focusing on cancer stem cells isolation and neutralization. The first consortium meeting will be held in Limoges on February 14-16, 2017 welcoming main representatives of 6 European partners.
This event will take place in the XLIM Institute over 3 days, from February 14th to 16th. The first day will be dedicated to introduction of each involved team, their know-how and their resources. Following days will allow focusing on the main project topics and research actions with working sessions dedicated to the first achievements and experiences to be done during the next months.
Actually, SUMCASTEC, Semiconductor-based Ultrawideband Micromanipulation Of Cancer Stem Cells, led by the XLIM laboratory aims to develop a novel micro-optofluidic lab-on-chip (LOC) platform in semi-conductor technology to neutralize cancer stem cells with electromagnetic waves.
To meet this challenge over the 42 coming months, this project gathers the additional expertise of 6 partners in a multidisciplinary consortium, among the most competent and recognized teams in their field in Europe:
- The University of Limoges, via the XLIM Institute and the Cellular Homeostasis and Diseases laboratory,
- The University of Bangor in United Kingdom,
- The German technological research Institute, IHP Microelectronics,
- ENEA, the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development,
- The University of Padova (Italy),
- The British company Creo Medical.
