Meet the SigmaDocX association

Meeting with the XLIM doctoral students association. The members of this new office are as follows: Jean Ortali (president), Arnaud Giabiconi (vice-president), Manal Arbati (treasurer), Ali Al Dhaybi (vice-treasurer), Joelle Youssef (secretary), Oumaima Zrhadi (communication manager) and Abhishek Rai (vice-in-charge of communications).

  • First of all, can you introduce yourself, what is your background? The members of the association?

Hello, we are doctoral students from diverse backgrounds, all working in the XLim laboratory. The members of our office come from different university courses. For my part, before preparing a thesis, I studied at an engineering school in electronics and telecommunications. The other members of the association come from iXeo EUR master’s degrees, or from courses offered by other universities such as the M2 Laser Nanosciences in Bordeaux or the master’s degree in nanophotonics from UTT in Troyes.

  • What does your association actually consist of? What activities does it offer?

This association aims to create and maintain a network between masters from different sectors related to the research areas of the XLim laboratory, but also to communicate on the laboratory’s research themes.

Concretely, it involves organizing and participating in the organization of activities to allow masters and members of XLim to exchange and share moments of conviviality outside the professional context but also to participate in different events making it possible to disseminate more or less widely.

  • What is the origin of this association? How was it created?

The SigmadocX association succeeded ADELCOM in 2012 (Association of Graduates and Students of Limoges in Optical and Microwave Communications), an association aiming to promote 3rd cycle teaching (doctorate) through fun activities between doctoral students. , and conferences.

  • What will be the next upcoming activity? next release etc?

We will soon be offering a hike in the area (weather permitting of course!).

  • A quick final word?

Welcome to all students. And…. Make the most of your studies, making them the best years of your life! If you ever want to get out of your routine a little, don’t hesitate to sign up for our association’s activities!
