XLIM is a University of Limoges/CNRS Mixed Research Unit which involve more than 500 teacher-researchers, CNRS researchers, engineers, technicians, post-docs, doctoral students and administrative staff. XLIM’s know-how is centered on electronics and microwaves, optics and photonics, mathematics, computer science and image, CAD, in the fields of space, telecom networks, environmental security, bio-engineering, new materials, energy and imaging.

Since April 2011, XLIM, in partnership with IRCER, has been carrying out the ‘Sigma-LIM’ laboratory around a scientif project: “Specific ceramic materials and components for integrated, secure, intelligent communicating systems”. The heart of XLIM’s research disciplines revolves around 3 scientific poles: • Electronics • Fiber photonics and coherent sources • Mathematics, Computer science, Image which bring together 6 research axes: • RF systems • RF-ELITE • Systems & Smart networks • Fiber photonics and coherent sources • Image synthesis and analysis • Mathematics & Information security and a cross-functional project hotel where research projects in areas of excellence are carried out.

XLIM is also 7 joint-laboratories, 1 industrial chair and several start-ups. XLIM staff are also involved in training with participation in 5 master’s degrees from the University of Limoges, which cover all of the laboratory’s research areas.
