Manon Gireau awarded the Cantarel Prize by the SFV

After winning the prize for best oral presentation at the MatV2L conference (CNRS federation) in 2024, Manon Gireau has just been awarded the Cantarel prize by the French Vacuum Society (SFV) for the quality of her presentation and her work.

A third-year doctoral student at IRCER (LABEX ∑-LIM thesis), Manon is developing original nanometric architectures based on gold, aluminium oxide and silver nanoparticles, using nanosecond pulsed lasers.

Her research, conducted in collaboration with XLIM (Limoges), L2n (Troyes) and CAPTuR (Limoges), aims to develop ultra-sensitive plasmonic sensors for the detection of rare biological species.

This work, at the interface between the development of thin-film materials and the design of a photonic sensor based on the shift induced by the Goos-Hänchen effect, perfectly illustrates the relevance of the interdisciplinary and inter-laboratory projects supported by LABEX ∑-LIM.
