LMGP (Laboratoire des Matériaux et du Génie Physique) is a multidisciplinary joint CNRS / Grenoble-INP research unit located on the MINATEC site at Grenoble (www.lmgp.grenoble-inp.fr). Research at LMGP is dedicated to material sciences, i.e. synthesis, processing and physical and structural characterization of functional materials. For several years, in addition to these traditional fundamental materials research activities, LMGP has used its experience in materials synthesis to develop a very strong technology research activity in deposition processing. This activity takes concrete form in several technological innovations in the fields of crystal growth and thin film deposition by chemical processes, including several that have been patented (injection CVD). For over a decade these new processes have been improved during their use for over forty theses, with a hundred publications and communications on thin film materials synthesized and studied in the laboratory. The expertise of the LMGP is strongly recognized at European level (coordination and participation in 8 European projects over 10 years).
