Canceropôle Grand Sud-Ouest visits Limoges: two days to strengthen the momentum of cancer research
The coordination team of the Cancéropôle Grand Sud-Ouest (GSO), accompanied by its scientific director, visited Limoges on 22 and 23 January 2026 for two days entirely dedicated to cancer research on the Limoges site.
Two days showcasing cancer research in Limoges
Organised in close collaboration with the local research teams, this visit aimed to provide an overview of the Cancéropôle GSO’s actions in connection with cancer-related projects conducted in Limoges. Targeted discussion sessions helped highlight the strengths of the site, strengthen ties with the interregional network and identify new avenues for collaboration to benefit patients.
Presentation of the missions and activities of Cancéropôle GSO
The Cancéropôle Grand Sud-Ouest is one of the seven cancer hubs accredited by the French National Cancer Institute (INCa), bringing together hundreds of research teams and clinicians in Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Occitanie, including Limoges. In Limoges, the GSO delegation presented its missions, scientific events and calls for proposals, giving local teams renewed visibility on the support and guidance schemes available to them.
Highlight of 23 January at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy
On Friday 23 January, all stakeholders involved in cancer research in Limoges gathered from 8:30 am to 1 pm in lecture hall F at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy. The morning was structured around presentations by the Cancéropôle GSO (missions, activities, events, calls for proposals) and talks by Limoges laboratories and teams engaged in oncology, fostering scientific exchanges and networking.
CRIBL, a fully committed player
Within this dynamic, the CRIBL laboratory helped to showcase the excellence of cancer research in Limoges, in continuity with its involvement in the GSO network, already highlighted during the 2025 Annual GSO Meetings. This visit reinforces the position of CRIBL and its partner teams within a structured interregional ecosystem, where basic, translational and clinical research come together around shared goals in the fight against cancer.
A network dynamic set to continue
Open free of charge to researchers and clinicians in Limoges, this event offered a unique opportunity to create or strengthen contacts, stimulate new projects and better align local initiatives with the strategic priorities of the Cancéropôle GSO. The discussions initiated over these two days will lay the groundwork for strengthened collaborations between Limoges and all the sites of the Grand Sud-Ouest, in support of innovative, integrated cancer research.
