Towards atmosphering monitoring via quantum infrared absorption spectroscopy
Abstract:
Infrared spectroscopy with undetected photons has recently emerged as a promising alternative to classical infrared (IR) spectroscopy techniques, leveraging biphoton quantum correlations and nonlinear interference to enhance detection capabilities in the mid-IR (2-20μm) spectral region. This seminar will detail recent developments of this technique, bringing it ever closer to concrete applications to the detection of atmospheric greenhouse and organic gases. We will focus specifically on the latest experiments carried out between the Universities of Besançon (UMLP, FEMTO-ST) and Geneva (UNIGE, GAP – Biophotonics), which allowed to demonstrate the first remote detection of atmospheric gas traces by quantum infrared spectroscopy.
About the speaker:
Simon Neves is a researcher (Maître de conférence) in the Optics Department of the FEMTO-ST Institute, in Besançon, France. His research topics cover quantum optics, information and sensing, with a particular focus on the generation of photonic entangled quantum states in nonlinear crystals and waveguides, their manipulation in interferometers, and their applications to quantum network security, atmospheric monitoring, and biotechnologies.”
