Abroad internship in Morocco – Babacar’s interview

This summer, discover each week the portrait of our M1 students who are currently on international mobility.

Today it is Babacar, a student in the Information Security course who is doing his mobility at Mohammed V University, Rabat (Morocco).

1. What is your background?

I obtained a degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science from Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar (Senegal) with honors.

Afterwards I did a master’s degree in algebra, algebraic geometries and applications which I passed with honors. Then I was accepted into the EUR Information Security master training in Limoges which I am doing now.

2. Mobility abroad is compulsory in M1 EUR, were you apprehensive about this mobility?

This mobility is a great opportunity for me because it allows me to discover many things in another country and to develop my skills and apply what I learned in Limoges.

3. How did the internship search go and how did you choose your internship location?

The search for an internship was not easy at the beginning but finally after contacting one of my former professors who is in Senegal I had the contact of the head of the Information Security Laboratory at the Mohammed V University of Rabat in Morocco where I am currently working for my internship, it went well.

4. What is your internship topic?

My internship subject is post-quantum cryptography for the Internet of connected objects.

5. What do your internship missions look like?

My mission is to first study post-quantum cryptography, then define what we call connected objects and finally to study how PQC acts on connected devices.

My days are going well with lots of research to understand and discover new things about post-quantum crypto and moving on to their applications.

6. What advice would you give to future students who are going to do their mobility?

For future students, I advise them to start looking for an internship as early as possible and to choose the internship location carefully because with certain cultures in certain countries you can be disturbed and not concentrate well on the internship.
