Présentation
Research unit member Roland LAWSON will be taking part in a webinar titled « Microbiota, Drugs and Human Health »!
Scope: « A rapidly increasing wealth of evidence supports a significant role played by the human gut microbiota in drug metabolism, immune responses, and variability in therapeutic outcomes. New therapeutic approaches involving microbiota-derived live bacteria are in clinic to bring new therapeutic solutions, as stand-alone or in combination with available drugs. Drug-gut microbiota direct or indirect interaction could lead to drug inactive or toxic metabolites, poor bioavailability, variable PK, and uneven patient response to treatment. The gut microbiota could also be a determinant of drug response in transplantation. Speakers will present recent examples and ongoing research supporting early consideration of the gut microbiota in drug discovery and in the development of new therapeutic approaches. »
