Research

As a hepatologist and internist, my research has focused primarily on viral hepatitis, its epidemiological and therapeutic aspects, and its systemic complications. Initially a member of UMR 1094 EpiMaCT, I joined UMR 1092 RESINFIT to conduct research on the pharmacology of antiviral drugs in collaboration with Professor Marquet. I subsequently joined UMR 1248 Pharmacology & Transplantation, where this research continued. My work focused in particular on the adverse effects of antiviral drugs, especially renal impairment, and on the development of predictive models. This approach was later extended to the study of the renal toxicity of immunosuppressive treatments used in transplantation.

My current research focuses on two main areas:

  • Artificial intelligence and prediction of acute or chronic kidney disease in liver transplant recipients, in collaboration with Professor Woillard, as part of a Fédération Hospitalo-Universitaire (FHU) project;
  • Albumin modifications in liver disease, investigated as a potential novel biomarker, in collaboration with Dr El Bakhi, as part of a project funded by an interregional Programme Hospitalier de Recherche Clinique (PHRC) grant (PMID: 42315548).

These projects build on previous research conducted with members of the team, as well as with Dr Carrier, who succeeded me at the University Hospital (CHU).

I am also continuing several research projects initiated previously, particularly in the following areas: amyloidosis, through the study of changes in FibroScan® measurements during treatment, in collaboration with the Reference Centre for Rare Diseases (CRMR) for AL amyloidosis and other monoclonal immunoglobulin deposition diseases; the development of REP 2139, an innovative treatment for hepatitis D; and the epidemiological and therapeutic aspects of hepatitis D in France, as part of the international Deltadescribe project. These various research activities have resulted in several important publications in 2026 (PMIDs: 42702009, 42043213, 41205755, and 41029593).
