Objective :

The OPTBANK project aims to enhance research and doctoral capacities in banking and finance in Indonesia, the largest archipelago in the world.

In particular, the OPTBANK project aims at :

  • Revitalizing the existing PhD programs in Banking and Finance and consolidating teaching standards ;
  • Enhancing the governance of research activities and PhD programs by exchanging best practices between Indonesian and European partners ;
  • Increasing higher education sector engagement in the field of banking and finance, knowledge sharing and consultation with practitioners, disseminating financial know-how and improving financial literacy of the society ;
  • Increasing the international exposure of Indonesian junior and senior researchers to high research standards.

Partners :

This project coordinated by the Université of Limoges gathers 10 partners (and 5 associated partners) :

  • 4 European universities : Université de Limoges (FR), University of Rome III (IT), Bangor University (UK), Technological University of Crete (GR).
  • 6 Indonesian universities : Universitas Sebalas Maret, Institut Teknologi Bandung, Universitas Sriwijaya, Universitas Islam Negeri Syarief Hidayatullah, Universitas Syiah Kuala, Universitas Tanjungpura.
  • 5 associated partners : Indonesian Central Bank, Indonesian Research and Higher Education Ministry, Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation, Indonesian Finance Association and the FINEST association (Financial Intermediation Network of European Studies).

Period  : October 2017 – October 2020

2018 OPTBANK Summer School

“Regulation and Risk Management in Financial Intermediation”

04-15 June 2018

This summer school aims to strengthen research capacities of Indonesian PhD students by presenting the main risk management tools in banking, the new regulation rules for risk management and the research quantitative techniques for assessing the impact of new regulation and supervision rules on banks’ behaviour.

2019 LAPE OPTBANK Summer School Program in Banking and Finance

3 June – 14 June, 2019 ; LAPE, Université de Limoges, Limoges, France

The 2019 LAPE OPTBANK Summer School in Banking and Finance aims to increase international exposure of Indonesian PhD students and to present them important and contemporary topics in banking, ranging from banking and financial fragility to empirical banking and finance. International experts in the field of banking and finance will teach the PhD courses. During the two-week summer school, PhD students will also participate in an international conference, the 2019 LAPE-FINEST Workshop, which will also be attended by international scholars specialized in banking and finance.
