In the Center Limousin Poitou-Charentes delegation, which covers around sixty laboratories on five sites, “we have chosen proximity”, explains Ludovic Hamon, the regional delegate. Thus, strong initiatives launched by the University on the La Rochelle site have helped organize collection and distribution to the local hospital center from the start of the crisis. The laboratories of Orleans and Tours have also mobilized to identify the material they have available for distribution to local hospitals. Others have spontaneously made the choice to provide their material to general practitioners, for example those Scientists carrying out a “PCR” which makes it possible to identify genetic material in a sample installed on the outskirts of Orleans.
“The call for centralized donations strengthens action in the field” by relying on agents who already have a strong link with the CHUs, such as the CRIBL unit located within the CHU Limoges. And in Poitiers, the census revealed, for a few units, small stocks of masks distributed over different sites: “In conjunction with the Vice-President Research of the University of Poitiers, we then made the choice not to collect these stocks, because the profit did not compensate for the risk entailed by the displacement of the agents ”, especially since the pressure on the CHU of Poitiers decreased following the allocations made at the beginning of the week.
The situation is changing from day to day and the needs of hospitals remain variable depending on the location and evolving over time: “this first census now makes it possible to respond more quickly to the first needs expressed by the CHUs, attests Ludovic Hamon. If new, more specific needs were to be felt, new censuses could be made. It is a real outpouring of solidarity that mobilizes all our teams. ”
