We integrate multi-source and multi-scale data (genomics, pharmacokinetics, proteomics, etc.) to better understand and predict patients&#8217; responses to drugs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">We use two main types of models: pharmacokinetic models, which describe the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of drugs in the body, and machine learning models, which capture complex and nonlinear relationships within the data. Pharmacokinetic modeling studies how a drug is absorbed, distributed, and eliminated by the body, helping us better understand its behavior.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Machine learning comes into play to analyze complex and nonlinear relationships between different data sources, such as genomics, drug concentrations, and therapeutic responses. It leverages knowledge from molecular models, omics, and pharmacokinetics or pharmacokinetic\/pharmacodynamic (PK\/PD) models to improve patient treatments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Two key aspects of this discipline are:<br \/> (i) The interaction between drugs and their targets, both at the microscopic scale (molecular inhibition) and the macroscopic scale (therapeutic or adverse effects).<br \/> (ii) The concentration of the drug in tissues and blood, influenced by factors such as genetics, inflammation, and drug interactions.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 20px\"><\/td>\n<td style=\"vertical-align: top\"><a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.unilim.fr\/p-and-t\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/80\/2024\/12\/DIGPHAT-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2572\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unilim.fr\/p-and-t\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/80\/2024\/12\/DIGPHAT-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"259\" height=\"191\" \/><\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">These pillars present methodological challenges that require mechanistic and statistical modeling approaches, particularly through the use of artificial intelligence. Integrating longitudinal data and time-dependent variability factors is complex, especially since research communities remain fragmented across different scales and types of models (molecular, tissue, and clinical pharmacology).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">This project aims to structure this approach, leading to the creation of pharmacological digital twins. These predictive models will be used to personalize treatments both before and during their administration.
