Research
Within the Pharmacomicrobiomics group, we aim to study the impact of the digestive microbial flora, known as the microbiota, on orally administered immunosuppressants, and conversely, to understand the effect of medications on the digestive microbiota and their consequences in transplant patients. My projects focus on understanding the mechanisms of the adverse digestive effects of immunosuppressive drugs, particularly on the role of immunoglobulin A, using experimental approaches including the analysis of human samples and, when there is no other alternative, the use of rodent models. Immunoglobulin A is an essential molecule of the immune system that is a major regulator of the digestive microbiota. In addition to my research activities, I help research staff at the local, regional, and national levels in the ethical and responsible use of animals in science, ensuring compliance with current regulations. I contribute to the ethical evaluation of research projects involving animals, as part of a dedicated ethics committee in Nouvelle-Aquitaine area, I am deeply involved in the training of animal users and the education of various audiences on this activity. I also lead the Inserm AnimalPharm project, which aims to provide recommendations on the administration of substances to animals used in science.
