The Resistance Observatory in Brief

The Observatory for Antiviral Resistance in Transplanted Patients is the Inter-regional PHRC 2006 that started on August 15, 2006.

Principal Investigator: Project in partnership with the National Cytomegalovirus Reference Center (Coordination: Dr. S. Alain, Virology, Dupuytren Teaching Hospital, Limoges) and French Institute of Health Surveillance (InVs)

Primary objective:

Study the impact of cytomegalovirus resistance to antiviral drugs after organ transplantation and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in patients with active CMV infection.

Secondary objectives:

  1. Study the diversity of strains in the initial episode and at the time of clinical or proven resistance
  2. Recurrence of the different resistance mutations and study of their clinical impact.
  3. Study the role of resistance to treatments of new mutations possibly detected.
  4. Create a national network for prospective data collection of strains and samples. (Can be used later to study resistance to new antiviral molecules which are still being developed)*
