Jaime Luna, originally from Ecuador, is a first year thesis student at the “Tropical Neuroepidemiology” Unit at the University of Limoges.
What is the subject of your thesis?
My thesis is on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. More specifically, on epidemiology, on the incidence the disease in developing countries and also on biomarkers for the disease.
Why did you choose to do a doctorate?
I love to do research; it is very important in science and in medicine, and it is what helps us progress. I am delighted to be at the University of Limoges as there are very few projects like this one in South America and I would like to develop stronger links between France and my country.
What do you want to do next?
I would like to become a researcher and work in the clinical field.
Why did you choose the University of Limoges?
I have a teacher who studied at the University of Limoges. I think there is great scientific expertise here. The training side and the French culture side also interest me. I also did a Masters here, on tropical diseases.
